Yes, that is what I was thinking--thought the grommets are a nice touch! I wonder, though, if it is the type of plastic that paper would slip in and out of easily (which the ones I bought are) or if it will tend to stick to the paper.Krishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04413921190654038723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-530932915559241278.post-7729745706723172142010-08-24T17:48:32.475-04:002010-08-24T17:48:32.475-04:00Hmm. I would imagine using some kind of tape (can you tell I am not a person who sews regularly?) under your sewing would make it less likely that the plastic would rip out.

Where the top is open, leave the side against the wall a little taller and put grommets in. Just slide the maps in and out at the top.dstbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12640426092185071874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-530932915559241278.post-22981012024697911042010-08-23T20:18:23.177-04:002010-08-23T20:18:23.177-04:00Just folding that tablecloth in half and you would...Just folding that tablecloth in half and you would get a 60 x 42 pocket, less some for the seem. Glue the sides together, maybe? It would certainly be safe hanging on the wall, though not completely protected from spills if on the floor. I wonder how hard it would be to slide the maps in and out of it?Krishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04413921190654038723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-530932915559241278.post-67315304463295206842010-08-23T18:40:51.141-04:002010-08-23T18:40:51.141-04:00Those large sheet protectors look good. Being able to hang them up once and just replace the maps is better than having to hang different size maps all the time.

Here was a thought (I have not tried this, so I have no idea if it would work). I remember seeing clear plastic on a roll in the sewing section at Walmart that you would use to cover a tablecloth to protect it. I wonder if you could get some of that cut and fold it in half to make a pocket. No idea of the price.

Here's what I mean on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Clear-Plastic-Tablecloth-60x84-RECTANGLE/dp/B0006B46V2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1282601862&sr=8-1

This is a very interesting idea. It would save my walls and my maps!
Thanks!
Sarahdstbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12640426092185071874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-530932915559241278.post-43869002065628771912010-08-16T21:39:15.139-04:002010-08-16T21:39:15.139-04:00105 maps - I am so impressed that you catalogued t...105 maps - I am so impressed that you catalogued them!Richelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10040133815286428699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-530932915559241278.post-40918198983782338192010-08-04T20:02:08.014-04:002010-08-04T20:02:08.014-04:00That's a wonderful resource!That's a wonderful resource!Jamie {See Jamie blog}https://www.blogger.com/profile/18212749055211487304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-530932915559241278.post-37524851672614881912010-08-04T17:13:04.652-04:002010-08-04T17:13:04.652-04:00What a treasure.
